Nicolas Forget is currently the director of the Vanderbilt Sponsored Emergency Medicine Residency Training Program at Georgetown Public Hospital in Georgetown, Guyana. He spends nine months of the year on site. He is also an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Vanderbilt. He completed his residency training at Los Angeles County University of Southern California (LAC + USC) Hospital, and stayed on as faculty for two years as the Merkin Fellow of International Emergency Medicine. He holds a B.Sc. from McGill University in Montreal and his medical degree is from the University of Maryland at Baltimore. His academic interests are in trauma care, improving outcomes in low resource settings, and international medicine. Dr. Forget has a diploma in tropical Medicine from the Gorgas School of Tropical Medicine and a Masters in Public Health from the University of Massachusetts. He has done medical work in Ecuador, Chile, Cuba, Sri Lanka, Liberia, Ghana, India, Haiti while returning regularly to work on theThai-Burmese border.
