Nicholas Kristof

A teenager in Cambodia is forced into prostitution. A woman in Somaliland recovers from a brutal attack by her husband. These are stories of violence, oppression, hope and inspiration. Nicholas Kristof, the two time Pulitzer Prize winner and New York Times columnist, shares them with the world in his new book “Half the Sky.”

Kristof wrote the book with his wife Sheryl Wudunn, who is also a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist. It lays out an agenda for women and three major abuses occurring in countries across the globe. Carolyn See, writing for the Washington Post, says: "Half the Sky is a call to arms, a call for help, a call for contributions, but also a call for volunteers. It asks us to open our eyes to this enormous humanitarian issue.”

Nicholas Kristof will speak on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 7:00pm and Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 11:30am.

Both events will be held in the auditorium at Caudill Hall at Volunteer State Community College at 1480 Nashville Pike in Gallatin, TN, 37066.

They are free and open to the public. Kristof will be available for a book signing after each appearance.
