VUSM student shares his experience with a Zambian patient in the Journal of Global Health Perspectives

Brian Heiniger, M.D. candidate 2015, spent his summer in Lusaka, Zambia where he conducted research at the University of Zambia (UNZA) teaching hospital. He documented his experience in a journal and it was published in the Journal of Global Health.

In his article “Patient 095,” Heiniger, details aspects of his recent research rotation in Zambia and shares a meaningful interaction with a patient that changed his understanding of what it means to be a physician.

The Journal of Global Health Perspectives is an online open-access research journal. In addition to publishing primary research, they are committed to publishing articles that relate meaningful experiences, observations and reflections from members of the global health community.
